No. 8 Collar Awl

The No. 8 Collar Awl, made by C.S. Osborne & Co., is a popular tool among saddlemakers and leatherworkers for creating larger openings in thick leather used in heavy-duty lacing. Its sharpened blunt-point forged steel tip is designed to penetrate tough materials effectively; however, pre-punching holes is discouraged, as it can lead to reduced precision or oversized slits.

The awl is fitted with a durable 4-3/4" hardwood handle, with the steel tang securely riveted for added strength and comfortable handling. The tip also features an integrated needle eye, making it easy to pull heavy thread or lace directly through the leather during stitching or lacing work.
